The Barrio do Barredo is located between the Cathedral of Porto (the Sé) and the river. It is characterized by narrow streets and old buildings that will make you feel as if you have traveled back in time. Of importance are the Escalas do Barredo or the Torre do Barredo.

The Ascensor da Ribeira, also known as Elevador da Lada, offers spectacular views of the Ribeira and the Don Luis I Bridge. Once you reach the yellow houses and narrow streets of Barredo, getting lost is part of the fun.

From here you can enjoy some of the city’s main sights: the Don Luis I Bridge, the cathedral and the Episcopal Palace of Porto, towering above the mosaic of terracotta roofs.

Rua Miguel Bombarda is one of the most artistic streets in Porto. It is located near the center and is where the most cultural, artistic and gastronomic offer of the city resides. But you will not only see art in the many galleries that are concentrated here, as the street also stands out for its graffiti murals.

Siga por las escaleras de Barredo. Otra opción es tomar el Ascensor da Ribeira, también conocido como Ascensor de Lada. En su parte superior, podrá disfrutar de unas estupendas vistas de la Ribeira y del puente D. Luiz. El acceso es gratuito, pero sólo funciona durante los días laborables de 8 a 20 horas.  ¡Es una forma genial de llegar a la zona cercana al río!

Una vez que llegue a las casas amarillas y a las calles estrechas de Barredo, sólo tiene que caminar para explorarla. ¡Perderse es parte de la diversión! Busque el edificio de la torre nº 5, en la Rua de Baixo, que es uno de los ejemplos más antiguos de arquitectura civil de la ciudad. Data del siglo XIII y es un bonito ejemplo de arquitectura medieval; el conjunto de escaleras de la entrada, por ejemplo, es muy típico de la época.
