takos al pastor madrid menu

For some time now, every time I passed by the Plaza del Carmen, I found a huge queue at the corner with Abada Street, and I thought: “Do they give anything away here? And not giving it away, but almost.

Right on that corner, you can find what for me is the most authentic and cheapest Mexican restaurant (I don’t know if you could call it a taqueria) in Madrid: “Takos al Pastor”. You can eat very tasty and above all cheap. For less than 10€ I assure you that you will leave satiated with a margarita or michelada included!

As there is no better way to show something than with some good images I have prepared a video of which I am very proud (I think it is my best video montage to date, let me know what you think) on the Youtube channel of La Recomendadora (that is, mine, hahahahahaha).

As you can see, the portions for the price are very generous, the tacos come loaded, the quesadilla is overflowing and the michelada is served in a big jar with a nice spicy sauce around it.

This taqueria was recommended to me by my Mexican friend Esti (thanks beautiful!) and I was so enthusiastic that as soon as she told me about it I went there the next day. Already from afar I could see a queue coming out of the door and a little smell that made me salivate like Pavlov’s puppy. Of the line, 70% were Mexican, so everything indicated that we were going to have a wonderful meal.

You can order tacos individually. I hate it when they make me order 3 or 4 tacos of the same thing (and at a gold price) because I prefer to eat three or four little tacos, each one of something different. And on top of the price… it couldn’t be cheaper! We opted for

ration of pozole (4€) served in an unglamorous plastic bowl but hey… here the important thing is the flavor and not the taste. the important thing here is the taste and not the presentation. Besides, for that price and with how tasty it was, I have no objections. Pozole, in case you don’t know it, I could define it as a “made in mexico stew” based on corn kernels, meat, radish, lettuce and spices (forgive me Mexicans reading this if I haven’t defined it properly). Maybe not everyone likes it, but I love it and if you come here I recommend you to try it because it was especially good and in winter it feels great.

Already from afar I could see a queue coming out of the door and a little smell that made me salivate like Pavlov’s dog. Of the queue, 70% was Mexican, so everything indicated that we were going to eat wonderfully.

I especially liked that it’s a taqueria where you can order tacos individually. I hate it when they make me order 3 or 4 tacos of the same thing (and at a gold price) because I prefer to eat three or four taquitos and each one of something different. And on top of the price… it couldn’t be cheaper! We opted for tacos al pastor, carnitas, cochinita and suadero. We liked them all, but without a doubt the best were the tacos al pastor. Ugh, I would have eaten a thousand! I also ordered an arrachera quesadilla that tasted like it should taste… and that melted cheese…. GOOD!

On top of all that we ordered a portion of pozole (4€) served in a not very glamorous plastic bowl but hey…. the important thing here is the taste and not the presentation. carta de tacos tiki
